A MOTHER watched helplessly as her son was put through torture.
Lesedi Motolo (34) was forced to stand by while residents poured white paint over Thuto Motolo, her 15-year-old son.
Lesedi from Phola Park near Tokoza, Ekurhuleni, said her son had never been in any trouble with anyone and what a group of residents did was shocking!
Her son was accused of stealing a friend’s school hat.
“My neighbour called me to say my son was being beaten up,” she said. She ran home and saw people armed with sjamboks, planks and sticks beating up her son.
“I cried and tried to rescue him. But a woman I know poured a bucket of paint over him.
“I thought my son was going to die. I told them I would pay for any damage he may have done but no one listened. My son was bleeding from the nose and mouth,” said the shocked mum.
She said people then came to her shack with sticks and bottles of petrol.
“I heard them shouting that they wanted to finish my son and that they would burn the shack. I got very scared and took my two children to a neighbour’s house,” she said.
Lesedi said it was very hard to remove the paint from Thuto’s body.
“I took him to Phola Park Clinic and they sent us to Natalspruit Hospital where he was treated and discharged later the same day.”
Thuto’s schoolmates and members of Cosas have been surrounding Lesedi’s home, trying to protect their friend.
Tokoza police spokesman Sergeant Soyamo Simawu confirmed that a case of assault GBH was opened. Suspects were arrested and will appear in court soon.
