This the amazing emergency call made by a 12-year-old boy after two burglars try to break into his home. The youngster was home alone at around 7.30am when he heard a knock at the front door. He kept his cool, grabbed a phone and hid in the wardrobe to call police for help.
During the terrifying call the boy tells the call handler
two men are trying to break down the door and get in.
He tells her: "Two strange men I don't know are on my
back porch and I think they're trying to open the door." The boy tells the
911 operator he is home alone with his cats and pleads for help.
She tries to keep the boy calm and tells him officers are
racing to the house in Scottsdale, Arizona.
But before police arrive the call takes a distressing turn
as the boy is suddenly confronted by the men when they find his hiding place.
He can be heard saying: "Please don't hurt me,"
before the men shut the door again.
He starts to panic and asks the dispatcher: "What do I
do? What do I do?"
She tells him not to hang up as officers surround the house.
"Robbie" Jay Johnson Jr, 36, was arrested at the
scene, while 31-year-old Cole Austin Lewallen tried to run from police. He was
caught by a police dog and arrested a short time later. Both men face multiple
charges.
The youngster's quick-thinking has been praised by officers.
Scottsdale Police sergeant Ben Hoster told Fox 10 news:
"He didn't answer the door, a short time later he noticed the two subjects
were in the backyard attempting to break in.
"The young boy grabbed a phone, hid in the closet, and
then dialed 9-1-1.
"He stayed on the line, he gave his address, he gave
the dispatcher information about where he heard the suspects, things like that
so he was very helpful to us."
Sgt Hoster added: "He did a great job, he stayed calm,
and he knew that the subjects were in his home, which is a terrifying thing for
a youth or adult."
